Benefit Of Gypsum Plastering.
Do you know how Gypsum Plastering technique can save your pocket? All of us know, nowadays constructing our dream home is something special to all of us. Everyone wants a good home. But it should also be cost effective and budget friendly. And we are more concerned about what color should have it? Am I right?.
But before we start painting we have to plaster it. A plastering is nothing but providing a protective coat to the walls and ceilings to eliminate any undulations from wall surfaces and from ceiling surfaces if any. All of us may be familiar with ordinary plastering techniques where we mix cement and fine aggregate, probably sand or manufactured sand with water in appropriate proportion and then we apply it to the wall or to the ceiling in required thickness.
Now let's talk about the gypsum plaster which we can buy directly from the market as ready to mix, ready made powder form and we only need to mix it with water before use. So it directly cuts the labor cost for mixing ordinary cement plastering. Is it interesting? We can also reuse the gypsum plaster so it also helps to cut the material wastage compared to ordinary plaster, which we can neither reuse or return. There is also another interesting fact on gypsum plastering that they can retain room temperature inside your homes. So you can enjoy warmth in winter, chill in summer. And do you know that, we have to cure the plaster surfaces at least Seven days in order to avoid temperature cracks if we select ordinary plastering techniques and here it is completely avoided and we can start painting after 72 hours after final touch of Gypsum Plaster. Again save your labor cost of curing and time too. So what do you think? Which is better: Ordinary Cement Plaster or Gypsum Plaster?
Now let us talk about how we can use it. In ordinary plastering you have to apply P.O.P for puttying purpose to eliminate any uneven plastering surfaces and to get smoother fine surfaces. But in gypsum plastering you have no need of puttying or any other special treatment to make your plastering surface smoother. Since gypsum plaster doesn't have any properties like expansion or contraction, crack probability is also zero.
According to where we use it, the thickness of gypsum plaster also changes. It will be around 11 millimeter for walls and 8 millimeters for ceilings. We can also heat gypsum plaster to get different types of plasters.
Also there are some disadvantages for Gypsum plaster, it is not good for exterior plastering. It can retain dampness in your walls which leads to ruin our paints. And also it is not good for wash room works also. So take advice before use from your architect.
